The fifth track of the Anbenum Peruvali Album, Undoubtedly ‘Orumaiyudan’ is the most popular and well-known song of Vallalar. It is both--a prayer and a major composition in classical music concerts. The composition exemplifies Vallalar’s world view by foregrounding well-being as opposed to adherence to dogmas. The articulation in form of yearnings and pleas at a deeper level, it was the first draft for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as it has a clear idea that rights are universal and inalienable; indivisible; interdependent and interrelated. It is also the song that celebrates Kandakottam, a shrine in the heart of the city of Chennai.This song was sung by singer Sanjay Subrahmanyan in collaboration with the music composer Sean Roldan. Anbenum Peruveli was commissioned by Metakovan aka Vignesh Sundaresan and conceived by Onemai Foundation.
